Fees
A Bais Din member, Dayan, may not charge for his services. However, a Dayan may collect Sechar Batalah, a minimal charge to compensate for the time he spends hearing the case, debating the decision and preparing the associated documents and notes.
The following is the fee schedule assessed by the Vaad. All fees are shared equally among the litigants. The Bais Din may require the plaintiff to pay the entire fee if the case is judged to have been brought frivolously.
There is a $300 application fee to be submitted with the application.
Standard Din Torah: $1200 per two-hour session ($600 each side).
If Toanim are involved, an additional charge of $100 per side is applied.
There will be an additional $150 filing fee for any settlement negotiated with the aid of the Bais Din or for issuance of a Hasraas Siruv and/or Siruv.
All fees are due at the time of the Din Torah.
